(Fall2024) Gavin Brown completed his bachelor's in his double major in Biology and Chemistry at Arkansas State University. He is from Mountain Home Arkansas, born in San Diego, California. He is very excited about the research he has done in the lab, cause he is going to Medical School soon. He worked on Research of Aldehyde and Friedlander Synthesis Reactions.
(Fall2024) He is Ryan Powell, completed his bachelor's degree majoring in Biology and Chemistry at Arkansas State University, Jonesboro, Arkansas, his research project was on Aldehydes and Friedländer Reactions. He plans to attend medical school and is very excited to learn as much as possible.
(Summer2024) Hansa Raj KC was a Ph.D. student who worked on testing Novel Antimicrobial compounds against Antibiotic-resistant bacterial strains. His research primarily focused on toxicity studies of compounds against various mammalian cell lines as well as the efficacy of those compounds against various bacterial strains. He mostly worked on determining the mode of action of potent compounds on Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and in-vivo efficacy studies using the nematode Caenorhabditis Elegans as a live model.
Sanjay Adhikary
Education: MS in Biological Sciences, Arkansas State University, Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Responsibilities: Sanjay worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Arkansas Biosciences Institute, Arkansas State University. He studied the in vitro and in vivo anticancer activities of novel compounds. He determined the effects of compounds on cell viability, cell migration, adhesion, cell cycle, and apoptosis. He also discovered the pharmacodynamics/mode of action of potent compounds using a combination of molecular techniques like Proteomics, qRT-PCR, and Western Immunoblot. He conducts in vivo efficacy and safety studies of novel compounds using mouse cancer models.
In his words, “My name is Max Bell and completed my Bachelor's at Arkansas State University. With my work in Dr. Alam’s research lab, I hope to gain more insight into the medical field, as I aspire to attend Optometry school.”
Abbey Stillwell was an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Arkansas Biosciences Institute, A-State. She was a Biology Pre-Professional major at A-State. She performed Cytotoxicity Assays on murine and human Melanoma cell lines. This consists of Cell culture and the IC50 experiment.
